Dr. Alejandro Farmache

Dr. Alejandro Farmache is a renowned Argentine Surgeon specialized in Phlebology, a branch of vascular surgery devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of venous diseases.

He received his degree of Doctor in Medicine in 1985 from the School of Medical Science, Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Province of Mendoza, Argentina.

He was Resident and Chief of Residents in the General Surgery Service at Luis Lagomaggiore Hospital where he trained as a surgeon. In his last year of residence, he received a scholarship to complete his professional training in the Phlebology and Lymphology Service of the Buenos Aires Central Military Hospital. His performance was evaluated as “outstanding”, and the resulting paper he wrote entitled “Microcirculation” can be found as reference material in the Library of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina, Buenos Aires City.

He is the author of a number of presentations and publications and has participated actively in over 100 congresses and national and international seminars.

On April 24th 2001, he was appointed member of the American Venous Forum, the main scientific body which gathers the most outstanding vascular surgeons of the world, as one of the eight representatives from Argentina.

Currently, he is working as Chairman of the Mendocinian Institute of Phlebology, which is a center of reference in the west of Argentina, and leads an outstanding group of professionals of international renown.

Dr. Farmache was awarded by Rotary International, the award “Serving is my occupation” was given to him in Mendoza, Argentina, September, 2008.

He is the author of the venous surgery procedure called AF Repairing® patented in Argentina and in the U.S.A., classified in class II by the FDA, presented in the Fourth Phlebology Symposium which took place in Bogotá, Colombia, June 25 – 27, 2009.

On October 29 – 31, 2009 he was invited to talk about his technique in the 10th INTERNATIONAL VASCULAR AND ENDOVASCULAR COURSE - IVEC made in Milan, Italy. He was the only Latin American representative, having the presence of more than a thousand vascular surgeons and members from a hundred of different universities from U.S.A., Europe and Asia.
